About the owner

Northern Craft owner, Bruce Northcraft

While our Northern Craft's experience, attention to detail, and references are just some things that set us apart, our foundation starts with the owner Bruce Northcraft.

Bruce was the baby of six kids and enjoyed working side-by-side with his dad fixing things around the house. By the time he reached sixth grade, his goal was to be a carpenter and start his own business. By ninth grade, he paid for his own phone line in his bedroom so he could take messages and return calls – his siblings were not giving him the messages! To this day, it is still his main business line.

Bruce grew up in Pasadena in a twelve-house community three miles back in the woods on a dirt road. Since he was the only kid in the community, he welcomed the opportunity to cut lawns six days a week.

As the groundskeeper for the Potapskut Sailing Association, each race day he prepped large sailboats for the event. Later, he helped his dad build their home on the waterfront of Black Hole Creek. His attention to detail, natural curiosity, and urge to build with his own two hands inspired a neighbor, Stewart Holmes to allow Bruce to build a 23-foot wooden sailboat from the ground up. That building process married Bruce and the newly named, "Rolly Polly" for over nine years. At 22, Bruce was given the boat for Christmas.

Immediately after his High School graduation, Bruce completed the mandatory 4-year Maryland State Apprenticeship with the Associated Builders and Contractors. In 1990, Bruce formed Northern Craft, a home improvement company known for its quality workmanship and life long relationships built on honesty and integrity.

Bruce has been married for over 30-years to his high school sweetheart, Chrisey. Bruce is also fortunate to share a passion for his craft with his two sons, 22-year old Ryan and 19-year-old Sean. The Northcrafts are also still life long residents of Pasadena!
